In the Beginning
On April 9, 2011, Wendy traveled to West Virginia with a bunch of confirmation students from her church. Never one to sit on the sidelines, Wendy joined in the game of “trash ball.” An unfortunate slip in the mud during a change in possession sent Wendy sprawling. She was helped off the field. It was the first time Wendy had ever left the field of play not under her own power.
Follow up medical tests revealed that Wendy had sustained a serious and very uncommon injury. She had ruptured her hamstring tendon and this would need to be surgically repaired. On April 26th, Wendy’s hamstrings were “re-strung” and she started along the road to healing: recovery, rehab and, God-willing, return to action.
“On the Way to Well” is Wendy’s story of the journey back from injury.
The blog title comes from a journaling dialog Wendy had with Jesus, known as the Christ, on Good Friday, April 22, 2011. He told her, “I will make you well. Your wholeness will be because of me.” Wendy asked, “What do you want me to do while I am getting well?” Jesus said, “I am Lord of ‘On the Way to Well.'”
This is Wendy’s account of…on the way.
